Summery desserts for moms only

Posted by andrea tomkins in: Recipes and Food

I tweeted out my afternoon snack yesterday and I got some rather excited responses so I thought I should share it here too. BEHOLD.

A frozen mocha treat for meeee!

It is very simple to make. Take some mocha-flavoured greek yogurt (that’s the thick kind if you haven’t tried it before) and put a portion in a small bowl and freeze it. I was unable to wait longer than an hour but it was just enough to freeze the edges. Stir, breaking up the icy bits. Add a handful of chocolate chips or top with berries, or both! It’s a nice treat; tangy, and not too sweet.

It was a great way to crush my afternoon coffee and sugar cravings, so I am geared up to try this with lemon-flavoured greek yogurt next. Maybe topped with some raspberries too.

These are the other “mom-only” treats I predict will be on rotation this summer:

  • Coffee popsicles (YES. REALLY. They are amazing.)
  • Poke coffee (Hmm. I sense a coffee-theme here.)
  • Banana “ice cream” … ok MAYBE I’ll share this one and not keep it all to myself. It’s a great way to use up spotty bananas and it’s almost as sweet as the real thing.

lemon flavour is my favourite. I have a hard time not eating the whole container. Even though it is so filling, I still eat and eat :)

This is a great “parent” dessert… best savoured after the kids are in bed:

I was eating the lemon Liberte Greek style yogurt, until I noticed that it had MORE calories (and fat and sugar if I remember correctly) than lemon ice cream. So now I just eat the lemon ice cream ;)
