The 2010 Shopping Embargo is coming to a close

I am collecting my thoughts and will be adding my final update to my original 2010 Embargo post later today. Was it a success? How has it altered our shopping habits? How does the new puppy factor into all of this? What’s next?

Although we can’t say we stopped buying, the ‘embargo’ helped us to think about what we bought. And that was a good thing, cause spending our money is one of the last democratic actions we can exercise…we spend where we would like to see things go.

The embargo helped me a lot! And as a well established shopper, this was no small feat and I must say, I now look at shopping consumption in a whole new light:)

Oh this is interesting - will have to read your archived posts on this. How do you get to your final update for the Embargo - did you post it in April 2010?

Great posts on the embargo and great questions to ask yourself before purchase. I also like your strategies to curtail spending. I read your wrap up and it’s interesting to read about how it gets easier with each year. I find my bad habit is surfing online and getting caught up by pretty things on etsy and the like. Esp. if it’s a small purchase - $20 or $30. I have a hard time thinking twice. But then little splurges add up at the end of the month. Definitely need to work on this!
