Giveaway alert! Gorgeous goods from Blend Creations

Posted by andrea tomkins in: Giveaways and product reviews

Oh my.

I hardly know where to begin.

I think I have no choice but to begin at the beginning.

A few days ago I was contacted by Vivian Cheng of Blend Creations. Here’s a snippet of her email to me:

My husband and I run Blend Creations, an online jewelry store from our studio here in Ottawa. Everything we sell is designed by us, machined here in town, with inlays cut and set by one of us. We’re also members of 1% for the Planet which means that 1% of our gross sales goes to benefit an environmental non-profit group — last year we donated our 1% to Ottawa Riverkeeper.

Here’s a few items I thought you might want to have a look at:

Our torus necklaces – they’re simple and funky and one of our newest designs.

Our Metal for Monsters pendants – we collaborated with 9 different artists who provided some fun monster illustrations. $16 from the sale of each pendant goes to benefit UNICEF. The story of how we came up with the line is here.

Our engraved wood necklaces – these are my personal favourites and when I wear something of ours, it’s usually one of these.

Our mother of pearl pendants and necklaces – these are a close second favourite since they’re a ‘modern classic’ that can be worn with just about anything (t-shirt and jeans or little black evening dress).

After I clicked through her entire storefront I fell off my chair. That is how much I love these designs.

Vivian – what a peach (here she is!) – has promised to give me this lovely lovely engraved wood necklace. Eek! Isn’t it gorgeous? More importantly however, she is giving a little something to one of you too.

… a $100 CDN gift certificate to spend at Blend Creations.

(!)

The fine print (as usual):

All good? Any questions? Have you picked yourself up off the floor yet? Over to you!

Hee!! I just bought a WHACK of stuff from Blend for presents (and added a *little* something for me). I had to restrain myself, though.

Should I be the lucky winner, I will put the gift certificate toward the following, which I’m currently coveting. (But my covet list changes pretty much daily):

Although I would be tempted to treat myself to something beautiful, I don’t think I could resist giving my daughter the “Fart Monster” necklace pendant. She is so into fart jokes these days, it’s hilarious! She’d get a major kick out of it. And would likely be the only jewellry I’d ever see on her since she is not a hearts and flowers kinda girl.

The Obligatory Blurb

My name is Andrea and I live in the Westboro area of Ottawa with my husband Mark and our dog Piper who is kind of a big deal on Instagram. We also have two human offspring: Emma (24) and Sarah (22). During the day I work as a writer at the Royal Ottawa Mental Health Centre. I am a longtime Ottawa blogger and I've occupied this little corner of the WWW since 1999. The Fishbowl is my whiteboard, water cooler, and journal, all rolled into one. I'm passionate about healthy living, arts and culture, travel, great gear, good food, and sharing the best of Ottawa. I also love vegetables, photography, gadgets, and great design.
