Thank God it’s Friday

Posted by andrea tomkins in: Oh! Things!

cupcake

I really don’t want to spend this blog post moaning about how busy I am, which is what I started to write about this morning. What a downer. Instead, I’m going to list a Few Good Things which have been happening around here lately.

  • Cupcakes. This one pictured above was very yummy. Frosting is my friend.
  • It’s Lunch as Therapy Day! What are you doing for lunch today? Mark is bringing home lunch to share and we might just eat it out on our …
  • … new and improved back veranda. When I walk into that room I feel THE BLISS. The weight just falls from my shoulders. Amazing how much this has done for my state of mind.
  • Fit-in 15! Today is gym day and I’m excited about it. (Are you playing along?)
  • Tonight is movie night here at Casa Fishbowl. I snagged a copy of Princess Bride from the library yesterday (score!) and can’t wait to watch it with the girls.
  • I’ve been test-driving some yoga gear for SavvyMom and it is AMAZING. So light and comfortable. I feel naked wearing it. It makes me look like one hawt mamma.
  • I’ve been working on an very fun article for a major national parenting mag which includes paper and a healthy dose of crafty. It feels so good to be creative in this way.
  • My new Nikon flash! I was playing with it after class last night, using it as a wireless strobe. It’s not exactly plug-and-play (I’ve been glued to the user manual) – but wow – I love what it can do.
  • It’s Father’s Day weekend, and the weather’s going to be fine. Ah, I sure love blue sky.

Care to share some of your own? Let us know what’s GOOD in your life right now!

Oh wow, did you get the SB-900? Or the SB-600? Yay for geeky photog code-speak!

I’m happy that in half an hour I get to go on a cruise! It’s just an Ottawa River cruise, but it’s with my worky friends and it’s a fine way to spend an afternoon even if it is a little cloudy out.

Speaking of the library, did you know you can borrow Wii games? Beloved discovered this last week and he’s in heaven! You have to wait a bit for the cool games, but you can’t beat the price.

I got the 600! It’s light, does what I want, and got it good reviews. It can eventually become a slave to a second flash. I’d pick up the 900 if I can find a money tree. :)

The 900 is much more user-friendly. I’ve seen it in action. The operations of the 600 is so cryptic I can’t believe it.

And yes, the Wii connection is another reason I love the Ottawa library so much!

Yeah for the new flash! I haven’t done much research into flashes yet for fear it will fuel my need -I mean “want”- for one. That’s interesting about the ease of use of the 900. Do you think it’s worth the money? Assuming you have the money that is.

I think it is wonderful that you are busy with so many things that you LOVE.

Congratulations on your new flash. I love it, you can get these fun clips to clip it anywhere to use off camera strobe. I am waiting for mine to arrive.

And for your special lunch, did you only have a fish cupcake? Is it your birthday and we should be singing Happy Birthday to you!

Hope you have a great weekend, sounds like you are planning to have some fun. Thanks for the Wii games tips, I hadn’t seen them at our library, then agaihn, I hadn’t looked.

Congrats on the flash… we are still saving for a D-SLR and mourning the soon to be lost film cameras….

We are happy that we are leaving on vacation this Sunday!

Doing the Fit in 15 and struggled with rain yesterday, but walking from transitway to work (10-15 minutes) each way today!

My new kitchen and ground floor laminate flooring! I could groan about how we’ve been living in a construction zone for 4+ months, not to mention the filth everywhere, but … it’s just so beautiful that I’m not taking it for granted. Even when I’m working full-time, am in my third trimester of pregnancy, have a busy 2 year old, and am totally exhausted. Even then.

BTW – frosting is my friend, too!

4. BBQ’s, 2 in a row!
5. Swimming if the weather is nice this weekend! And proud that Christos can now swim on his own!
6. Strawberry picking!
7. Father’s Day!
8. Going onto day 5 of the 30 Day Shred – that, combined with the fact that I cut out carbs (yes, again) has resulted in me losing 5 pounds this week!

Dinner at Westboro Beach – you can’t beat it! What a gem to have in the hood

Beach, Beer, Pizza – the kids had a blast, I didn’t have to clean, and they were exhausted so straight to bed no problem.

Now that’s a good Friday night!

Thanks for this post Andrea. I really haven’t had a stellar week, so this has forced me to focus on the GOOD things.
1. My little guy’s two front teeth have started to break through the gums. So cute!
2. I have a girl’s night out with my best buddy tomorrow. We’re going to see a silly comedy.
3. Everything about my husband.

What’s good in my life right now:

1. My nutrition course is coming along. I’m on track to graduate next spring.

2. I had an awesome vacation just this May. I think about the sun and fun when the weather is gloomy. So happy we saved all year to afford the vacation and watch my brother get married.

3. My husband is a hard worker and has a successful home business, which enables me to stay home with my girls.

4. I have 2 awesome and healthy girls.

5. I’m healthy and happy.

6. I have a beautiful home by the river, which makes for a beautiful backdrop for family time.
