Do you think Cadbury Mini Eggs qualify as the good stuff? Because that is my ultimate favourite. I don’t usually go to any fine chocolate stores for Easter, although maybe a trip to Godiva this year wouldn’t hurt! And no dollar store chocolate for me or my kids. The stuff they sell in Shoppers is good enough for us, though…

Ooooh, and does anyone have a source for any good gluten-free and dairy/casein-free chocolate? I have an allergic 2 year old who’s old enough this year to know what chocolate is…

Lindt dark chocolate is completely dairy free, although not sure about the gluten, you’d have to check that out. Enjoy life makes chocolate chips that are free of the top allergens so you might be able to find it in bar form - or else make bunny shaped choc-chip cookie??? :)

When I was a kid I loved the peanut butter eggs, but now it’s the sweet georgia browns or the orange melties. Sometimes we even go for the Turkish Delight.

*sigh* so hard to choose! I think I’d better put my order in now that you reminded me. :)

Reid and Ken aren’t fans of chocolate and so I buy myself a Laura Secord Cream Egg (my favourite) and Reid eats whatever candy that my mom picks out for the egg hunt at her place. Reid will eat some that day and again on our 9 hour return trip. The rest will go into the pantry to be thrown out this time next year (note to self: throw away the uneaten candy from last Easter).

I think she’ll be receiving a hockey net for use in our driveway and some bubble liquid and chalk. I’d eliminate the candy altogether but my family thinks Reid is living a crunchy-granola life and they like to treat her.

My better half is allergic to chocolate, so I have to get my chocolate fix during my half hour lunch at work. For chocolate, Easter or otherwise, there’s a decent chocolatier across from Promenade du Portage in Gatineau (aka: Hull). It’s next door to La Joie shawarma house.

BTW, some dollar stores sells some pretty good chocolate: Droste Pastilles in the hexagonal tubes.

I don’t have a specific chocolate spot, but when I indulge, it is usually expensive dark chocolate. I like milk chocolate, but not enough to waste my calories on it! The higher the percentage, the better. 85% is perfect. A friend bought me some lovely bonbons from a shop in Toronto (www.sittingaroundeatingbonbons.com) that I’m savouring slowly but surely. I’m saving the dark chocolate orange one for last.

German Town downtown, Swiss Pastries, The Candy Store in The Westboro and believe it or not, Dollarama is selling some REAL German Fielder chocolate bunnies for $2 and they are normally at least 5-6$. Also, any of the european deli marts and Badders at Manotick Station (dutch I think). Okay, now you all know how much i LOVE chocolate!

Stubbe Chocolates on Dalhousie, just north of Rideau. German chocolatier, nice European-style chocolate (i.e. sugar’s NOT the first ingredient).

I think you know what I might say… fair trade chocolate!! My favorite is Divine Milk Mini Easter Eggs (http://www.divinechocolate.com/default.aspx) but I like the Cocoa Camino milk chocolate too…. Dubble Bars are also fabulous. You can check them out on Thursday!

The best part? She just started selling fair-trade, organic truffles. I bought our Valentine’s day chocolate from her and was very pleased with taste and customer service.

Just yesterday I was in Truffle Treasures here in Westboro for their delicious hot chocolate. The smell of the dark chocolate, and spices (my favorite is the Aztec) is almost enough to satiate my chocolate craving. Almost. And when I finish that cup of earthly delight I feel content; I never feel like I had too much or too little. In fact I told my husband that I think I could have one of their hot chocolates everyday for dinner.

We bought two little easter bunnies for our kids, and I am sure they will also be delicious, but will have to get back to you on that one.
