Walden is wandering!

Posted by andrea tomkins in: Challenge me, challenge you|Ottawa

UPDATE: Well. I think Walden is gone. Sigh. That didn’t last long, did it? There’s a bit more info here.

And here’s a clue regarding his first stop in Westboro:

Funny parking sign!

Where’s Walden is our little family project. It’s the Trust Experiment with a bit of geocaching thrown in along with a measure of social media. Hopefully there will be community participation, but if not, that’s ok too. I like to think that Walden is spreading joy wherever he goes. Maybe Walden will encourage family walks around Westboro? Maybe he’ll help people discover some cool stuff about their neighbourhood? Or practice their orienteering skillz? :)

Care to play along? Or maybe you’re just wondering what the heck I’m talking about. This page has been set aside just for Walden and I’ll be updating it all summer long. That is, if he can last that long without wandering off and getting lost. :)

So, what’s the idea? We find him, take a photo and hide him somewhere else?

I love Walden’s sunglasses – he looks like a character out of Gnomio and Juliet! We’ll have a look for him in our travels this summer. Maybe we will add getting our photo taking with him to our summer bucket list :)

I feel that the handwritten message on the sign stating that ‘old people’ park outside the lawn bowling is a little bit mean. I think that our elders in this community deserve more respect than this.

Mary – Walden travels by himself. But feel free to find him and take his photo!

penny – Walden is a gnome with an attitude. I think that’s what makes him so interesting.

Jacquelyn – I’m sorry you feel that way. I found the sign mildly amusing… and it appealed to my inner 12-year old. No disrespect intended! I like the elderly!

Jacquelyn isn’t the only person who thinks the term “old people” is a bit harsh.

I think someone better call the police right away and report that horribly offensive graffiti.

I’m hoping he is returned, but I’m not getting my hopes up.
