Welcoming a new patron: The Ambassador Hotel in Kingston

Posted by andrea tomkins in: Fishbowl patrons| travel talk

We’re always on the lookout for great family travel deals here at Casa Fishbowl, and I know you are too. That’s why I’m pleased to welcome a new Fishbowl patron into the fray: the Ambassador Hotel in Kingston.

We’ve been to Kingston a bunch of times, and I truly love it. It’s been much too long since we went. The last time was on our way back from Sandbanks Provincial Park. I distinctly recall wishing we had more time to spend in this charming city. Kingston is the perfect kind of destination for Ottawa folks: it’s within easy driving distance, it’s very family friendly, and there is a lot to see and do. Personally I’m keen on the history. It began as a native settlement, became a trading post, and was the first capital of the Province of Canada in 1851.

I bet you didn’t think you’d get a dose of Canadian History 101 today, did ya? But feel free to do what I did and spend a few minutes clicking around this historical map of Kingston. If you are similarly inclined you may find it kinda neat too.

Anyway, yes. The question is, where to stay in Kingston? The Ambassador Hotel in Kingston has amenities that appeal to every member of the family. There’s an indoor water park featuring a 100′ waterslide, an interactive splash pad, and an electronic games room. In fact, there’s a team of people who are ready to keep the little people busy while you relax in the Eucalyptus Steam Room, dry sauna, whirlpool spas and/or squeeze in a workout at the fitness centre. Sounds heavenly.

The Ambassador offers a great March Break getaway that is quick, easy, and affordable. Kids stay free, and there’s also free wireless high speed internet, and free parking. (Take a peek at their March Break schedule here to see what’s going on that week!). What else? Kids eat at half price at JM’s Restaurant & Lounge which features themed buffets and weekend breakfast buffets.

Check the website or call 800-267-7880 for great March Break deals and two, three and four night packages. Have you been to Kingston lately? If so I’d love to hear about it!

We LOVE Kingston. We usually spend a day or two there every year. It is so walkable, the buildings and boats are beautiful to look at, and we always hit our favourite shops and eateries like Novel Idea, The Chien Noir, Cook’s….

My hometown! :)

I remember going to many birthday parties at the Ambassador Hotel’s waterslides as a kid. So fun!

I love the historical aspect of Kingston too. While I probably didn’t appreciate it growing up, it’s probably a large part of why I love old houses, architecture and history as an adult.

The Obligatory Blurb

Thank you for visiting! My name is Andrea and I live in the Westboro area of Ottawa with my husband Mark and our two daughters Emma (14) and Sarah (12). I've been blogging since 1999, which makes me either a total dinosaur or a veteran of the Canadian blog scene, I'm not sure which! The Fishbowl is my whiteboard, water cooler, and journal, all rolled into one. I am the Managing Editor of Capital Parent Newspaper but also make my living doing a bunch of other fun things. I'm passionate about healthy living, arts and culture, family travel, good food, and sharing the best of Ottawa for parents and kids. I also love vegetables, photography, gadgets, and great design.
