We have returned from an amazing trip to Lake St. Peter. I have so much to share! In the meantime I want you to meet one of the friends we made while we were there. :)

I love how he? she? couldn’t seem to decide which cheek to stuff that peanut into. “This side? Hmm, no, this side I think? Or maybe the first way was better?”

Camping is great fun and the wildlife is also great to watch. But, as you probably know, feeding the wildlife helps to create or sustain their dependence of human-provided food which disrupts their patterns but can also be dangerous for the animal and for campers (if other more ehm forceful animals figure there is food for them there too). Maybe next time move the peanuts away before the chipmunk can get to them? it won’t make for a cute video but it would be a good thing in the long run. Hope you continue to enjoy camping and the great outdoors.

I used to think that too, but the chipmunks are a special case. They store almost all of their food! They’ll never go hungry, and there will never be a shortage of people who feed them at campgrounds.

Would you stop putting out water for birds, or seed in a feeder because you don’t want them to become too dependent?

We have a cottage not far from our home & we have pet chipmunks there that we feed all the time & now we can pet them & they are soooooo cute!!!
