Movie Monday

Posted by andrea tomkins in: Easy ways to make kids happy| Ottawa

We found ourselves somewhere a little different this morning - pretty much on a whim:

Rainbow Cinema, Ottawa

It was a good decision.

Admission to a morning show at Rainbow Cinemas will only set you back three bucks per person. On Tuesdays it will only cost you a toonie. And air conditioning is included!

(In case you were wondering, the theatre did fill up a little bit after this photo was taken. But not much.)

Our film of choice was Snow White and the Huntsman. I didn’t expect to like it as much as I did, and it was the perfect summer film for two young teens and their overheated mom. The girls were riveted to their seats. It’s easy to see why. Here’s the trailer:

Some of the special effects were spectacular. It is properly rated at PG-13 for intense sequences of violence and action and brief sensuality, although there really wasn’t very much of the latter at all. Not enough to worry about anyway.

It was definitely worth seeing!

Speaking of entertainment, I don’t think I’ve mentioned that we cut the cable while we’re living in the apartment, have I? Hmm. I’ll write more about that tomorrow.

We went to see The Lorax there last week as we missed it in the “real” theatres. I love that they offer sharing bags for popcorn so we can divide up a large amongst ourselves.

The Obligatory Blurb

Thank you for visiting! My name is Andrea and I live in the Westboro area of Ottawa with my husband Mark and our two daughters Emma (14) and Sarah (12). I've been blogging since 1999, which makes me either a total dinosaur or a veteran of the Canadian blog scene, I'm not sure which! The Fishbowl is my whiteboard, water cooler, and journal, all rolled into one. I am the Managing Editor of Capital Parent Newspaper but also make my living doing a bunch of other fun things. I'm passionate about healthy living, arts and culture, family travel, good food, and sharing the best of Ottawa for parents and kids. I also love vegetables, photography, gadgets, and great design.
