I went in looking for a glass goldfish bowl to make a second terrarium but didn’t find one.
Law of Thrift Shopping no. 1 states: if you’re looking for something specific, you won’t ever find it.
But I did find some good stuff (photos to come!) including a black rain coat, formerly from Old Navy. It is perfect, exactly what I wanted, and it looks fabulous on me, but I have a feeling the sleeves are a smidge too short. (Please tell me this is something that I could take to my tailor and have fixed!) I also bought a small lidded glass jar to hold my collection of paper stars, which are being bequeathed to Sarah.
Little known fact: ValVill can very good for table linens. I was looking for a new tablecloth (the First Law of Thrift held true here as well) but found a set of nice placemats and two (embroidered/unused!) cloth hankies instead.
I was having good luck here. I continued walking along the rack, seeing with my hand more than with my eyes, when I suddenly felt something that was much too soft to be in the Bed and Bath section. It was a lovely cream-coloured pashmina/silk shawl. For $2.99 it had to come with me.
A pretty good day, don’t you think?
