Sandwiches and beer, two of my favourite things!

Posted by andrea tomkins in: Ottawa| Publishing/writing/career stuff| Recipes and Food

I am fairly certain that sandwiches are The Perfect Food.

My latest piece for SavvyMom is about a neat little sandwich place in Centretown called Pressed. It was introduced to me by my friend Vicky, who hosted a tweet up there awhile back. I’m thankful for that yummy introduction, because I might not have otherwise made the trek out there. But now I realize that was just plain silly.

See the chips there? Oh man, were they ever good.

A surprise bonus for me: I like pickled green beans! Each sandwich plate was decorated with a healthy beany specimen that was tangy with a bit of a kick. Who knew?

I quite agree you cant beat a club sandwich! just think what it would have been called if someone else had the bright idea to stick 2 pieces of bread round their beef to stop getting grease on their fingers probably a Tomkins or cutts . Having said that I had some quite competitive buttered crumpets this week…………………

I love this place too! You don’t know how happy I was when it opened up right between my work and my home. Now that I’m on mat leave it’s the perfect little home-away-from-home, Saturday night family date, latte excursion, etc.

Hmmmm those are my favs too. Although I prefer coffee and mostly frappes at that with my sandwiches. My fav sandwiches are a corn & spinach with cheese & grilled tuna sandwich. Also a cafe here has really wonderful club sandwiches.
I’ve heard so much about Kichesippi beers.

The Obligatory Blurb

Thank you for visiting! My name is Andrea and I live in the Westboro area of Ottawa with my husband Mark and our two daughters Emma (14) and Sarah (12). I've been blogging since 1999, which makes me either a total dinosaur or a veteran of the Canadian blog scene, I'm not sure which! The Fishbowl is my whiteboard, water cooler, and journal, all rolled into one. I am the Managing Editor of Capital Parent Newspaper but also make my living doing a bunch of other fun things. I'm passionate about healthy living, arts and culture, family travel, good food, and sharing the best of Ottawa for parents and kids. I also love vegetables, photography, gadgets, and great design.
