a peek inside the fishbowl

Mark bought Mr. Peanut home as a Christmas gift for me last year.

I knew (he has since confessed as much) he bought it because he liked it, not because it would make a really nice gift for his loving wife.

At first I wasn’t quite sure what to make of this cast iron peanut man overseeing a peanut-shaped cast iron dish. I thought he would make a good bird feeder, but didn’t want him to weather. He held peanuts, but that wasn’t right either.

It wasn’t until he assumed the role of Supreme Holder of Stray Marbles that he finally made himself at home. He now sits on the window between the two bookshelves in our living room.

And now I think he’s pretty cool.
