And now, some fun things to do with your weiner.

-

For most of this week I have been gorging on my favourite lunch items. I've pretty much had the same salad every day for a week, and I still haven't had enough.

  1. Sautee slices of red onion and red pepper in a splash of olive oil, on medium heat. When they're good and wilted, add a splash of balsamic vinegar and maple syrup.
  2. Sautee until brownish and slightly caramelized.
  3. Add to greens of your choice.
  4. Top with crumbled goat cheese, fresh ground pepper.
  5. Inhale and savour.

Sometimes I'll even add some cold grilled chicken.

Somebody please tell me this is a healthy salad. :)

Emma and Sarah have not been taking their afternoon naps very well for the past few days. In fact, I am finding this development rather exasperating. An hour to myself after lunch is a great relief. I usually use it to do absolutely nothing, but I find that without it, I turn into a crab.

I think it's fatigue that kicks in suddenly. When I realize it's happening I race to make a coffee before my eyeballs explode and I turn into a female version of the incredible hulk. (Except that my muscles don't grow exponentially and my clothing doesn't end up in shreds.)

For some reason there are days they suddenly become extremely high-maintenance.

Yesterday, for example, Emma was almost clobbered by a man on a bike, who was speeding down the path by the river. She wasn't looking where she was going. In a panic he shouted a loud "LOOK OUT!"

Everyone (mostly myself) was pretty shaken up about it, especially since I had just told her to make sure to look both ways before she goes on the pathway.

<sigh>
